Home Base

We have completed OpenMrs's home page. We had a few issues (especially when dealing with IE..). The small image logo would not re-size perfectly to suit both IE and the Blackberry browser. Also there were some issues with padding in IE. Other than that the home page seems to be a success.

We are about to start on other pages within the site and hopefully they will have a similar, preferably the same, layout with a simple stylesheet.

Emulators and Code

Last Friday I finally downloaded and set up a blackberry smartphone emulator. Today I have grabbed all of the source code from OpenMRS (html, css) as well as the images to reconstruct my own web page.

My lab partner has downloaded two different emulators, a windows mobile and a droid. He almost has both of them working. We have a basic design in mind so we will start messing with the code to get a feel for the different divisions and all of the elements.

Virtual Machine and Go..

Today I'm going to attempt to set up MRS on a virtual machine on my laptop. Our team already has our ticket and this VM is the last step for our start-up to work on this project. After today, its gonna be all systems go! well, hopefully at least.. :D

Hack-Centric

In class we watched a little documentary titled "Revolution OS" which dealt with the controversy of Free Software and the Open Source Movement. Needless to say it wasn't exactly a Michael Moore funded production (hmm.. is that really a bad thing?.. you decide) but it was very insightful. I really disagree with the extremism of the Free Software movement. I mean free software is good but one can't really expect all software to be free. That's just ridiculous... However I pretty much agree with the open source point of view. I think there is definitely money to be made and it has its place in the computer world. I'm not by any means a Bill Gates enthusiast but commercial software makes sense. I believe in a computer world where Free, Open, and Commercial Software can coexist without hateful bickering and pies being thrown in one's face. Literally..
